He studied information technologies at the Iberoamericana University (UIA, in Spanish) in Mexico City and visual arts at the University of Westminster, London. He participated in workshops wtih Ansel Adams, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Arnold Newman and Eikon Hosoe. He is the author of several books, including Archipiélago Revillagigedo, La Última frontera (1988), Arquitectura Fantástica Mexicana (1991) and 500 años de Baja California (1997). As a visual artist, his work has been exhibited in more than five countries. “Vistas Construídas” was shown at the Fototeca de Monterrey in 2012 and “Horizontes” at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Paris in 2013, among other venues. He has also dedicated himself to the restoration of the photographic legacy of his father, the renowned Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa. He participated in the 5th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the 17th Hamburg International Film Festival, among others, with his documentary Un retrato para Diego (La revolución de la mirada) (2007).
