As a director, screenwriter and producer, the following films stand out in his filmography: Chronic (2015), a film nominated for the Palme d’Or and winner of the Best Screenplay at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, and Después Lucía (2012) Certain Regard at the 65th Cannes Film Festival.

As a producer, standouts include 600 Millas (2015), directed by Gabriel Ripstein and winner of the Best Opera Prima Award at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), and Desde allá, directed by Lorenzo Vigas and winner of the Golden Lion At the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. As a director, he has presented three works at the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM): Entre dos (2003) at the 1st FICM, Daniel y Ana (2009) at the 7th FICM and A los ojos (2013) at the 11th FICM. His most recent work, Chronic, had its national premiere at the 13th FICM.

In 2017, his film Las hijas de Abril, was part of the official selection of Cannes and received the Prize of the Jury.
