Isabel Cristina Fregoso Centeno

She studied cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school in Mexico City, communication at the Jesuit University of Guadalajara (ITESO, in Spanish), and film appreciation at the Film Research and Teaching Center (CIEC) of the University of Guadalajara (U. de G.). She received the Young Creators Grant from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in 2001, the Ford-Rockefeller Grant in 2002 and the Fund for Quality Film Production (FOPROCINE, in Spanish) grant from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) in 2006, among others. Her work has been shown at more than 20 film screenings and festivals around the world. She received the Ariel for Best Documentary Short Film at the 34th Ariel Awards Ceremony, Mexico, and the CINED Prize for Best Educational Cinematography at the 24th International Festival of New Latin American Film, Havana, Cuba, for her short documentary film Chenalhó, el corazón de los Altos (2000). She participated with her short documentary film Cristeros y Federales (2011) in the 9th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), the 24th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish) and the 5th Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival, Ireland, among others.
