Emiliano González Alcocer

He studied design and visual communication at the National School of Visual Arts (ENAP, in Spanish) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is the founder and director of the animation studio Llamarada in Mexico City. His work has been shown at more than 30 festivals around the world, including two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He participated in the 7th FICM with his animated short film El gran bang (2009), which he co-directed with Andreas “La Mandrágora” Papacostas, and that won, among other awards, First Place at the 2nd Animasivo, Contemporary Animation Forum; a Special Mention at the 4th Riviera Maya Underground Film Festival (RMUFF); Best National Animated Short Film at the 4th Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico (SSFFM); and Best National Short Film at the 1st Valle de Bravo en Corto International Film Festival, Mexico. He received the Best National Short Film award for his animated short film Moyana (2010) at the 2nd Valle de Bravo en Corto and an Honorable Mention at the 2nd Rakk Focus Short Film Festival, Villahermosa, Tabasco. This film was nominated for an Ariel for Best Animated Short Film at the 53rd Ariel Awards, and Best Animated Short Film at the 49th Silver Goddess Awards Ceremony, Mexico. He participated in the 9th FICM and the 3rd CutOut Fest International Animation and Digital Art  Festival, Querétaro, among others, with his animated short film El cortejo (2011), which won the Best Animated Short Film award at the 5th International Short Film Festival on Cinema, Culture and Life, Toluca, Mexico.
