He studied industrial design at the Iberoamerican University (UIA, in Spanish), received a master’s degree in philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City. His work has participated in more than 30 film showings and festivals around the world, including six editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). His first film Sexo impostor (2005) premiered at the 3rd FICM and was nominated for a Silver Goddess for Best Feature at the 35th Silver Goddess Ceremony in Mexico. He participated, among other festivals, in the 4th FICM and in the 29th Festival International du Film sur l’Art (FIFA), Montreal, with his feature-length documentary A través de A(lan) Glass (2006), which won the Best Director and Best Editing awards at the 9th Crystal Screen Festival in Mexico City. La noche más venturosa (2007) was presented at the 5th FICM and won the Best Photography award at the 10th Crystal Screen Festival. He presented his short documentary film Rara Avis (1985) at the 6th FICM, the Museum of Mexico City and the Museum of Modern Art (MAM, in Spanish), among others. He participated in the 7th FICM and the 2nd International Art Documentary Film Festival ARTES.DOCS, Mexico City, with his animated short film El gabinete surrealista de Alan Glass (2009). At the 10th FICM, he presented his short documentary film La casa de Luis Barragán. Un valor universal (2011), which participated at the 27th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish), the 31st FIFA, Montreal, and the Bogotá Film Festival (Bogocine), among other film showings and festivals. For this film, he won the Best Effects, Best Original Soundtrack and Best Art Direction awards at the 14th Crystal Screen Festival. His feature-length documentary Remedios Varo. Misterio y revelación (2013) was presented at the Pompidou Center in Paris, and the Tour de Cine DOCUMENTArte, of the 28th FICG and 29th FICG.
