Rubén Montiel Mendoza

He studied cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school in Mexico City. He participated, among other film showings and festivals, in the 7th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) and the 5th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish), with his short documentary film Largo viaje (2004), which received an Honorable Mention for the José Rovirosa Award of the UNAM Film Archives in 2004. He participated in the 4th and 5th editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) with his short fiction films Morir de noche (2006) and El otro Diego (2007). This last film also participated in the 10th GIFF and the 7th Tarazona and Moncayo “Paco Martínez Soria” Comedy Film Festival, Spain, and received the En Tránsito award for his short film project, which participated in an international workshop at the 8th Fábrica Audiovisual, Buenos Aires. He won the José Rovirosa and the Best Short Documentary Film awards at the 1st International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsDF, in Spanish) for Hasta el final (2008). His feature-length documentary Tanrreje, el agua grande (2013) participated in the 9th Indigenous Film and Video Festival, Morelia (FECVI), and in the 8th Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” Mexico, among others.
