Isabel Muñóz Cota

She studied cinematography at the CCC film school in Mexico City. Her work has been shown at more than 40 film showings and festivals around the world, including two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). She participated, among other festivals, in the 5th FICM and the 62nd Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) with her short fiction film En tránsito (2007); which won a Special Jury Mention at the 11th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival, Austin, Texas; and another at the 3rd Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico (SSFFM), among other awards. She won an Ariel for Best Short Documentary Film at the 51st Ariel Awards Ceremony in Mexico and the Best Documentary award at the 7th In-Edit Puebla International Documentary Film Festival for her short documentary film Su mercé (2007), which also competed at the 5th FICM. She participated, among other festivals, in the 8th FICM and in the 31st International Festival of New Latin American Film in Havana  with her short film Si maneja de noche procure ir acompañado (2010), which won the Mayahuel Award for Best Mexican Short Film at the 25th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish). Her first feature film Inercia (2013) participated in the 14th JeonJu International Film Festival (JIFF), Seoul; in the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), India; and the 26th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) among others.
