Agustín Tapia

He studied philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Monterrey. He received the Young Creators Grant of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), Mexico, in the area of literature, in 1990. He received a Special Mention at the 5th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the Best Mexican Documentary award at the 4th International Film Festival of Baja California for his feature-length documentary, co-directed with Anna Soler Cepriá, Los días sin Joyce (un diario imaginario) (2007); which also participated in the 10th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) and the 16th Cinesul, the Iberoamerican Festival of Film and Video, Río de Janeiro, among other festivals. He was nominated for an Ariel for Best Short Documentary Film at the 51st Ariel Awards Ceremony, Mexico, for his short documentary film Cine a mano (2009). His short film Dos jaulas (2011) won the Audience Award at the Rally Pro Cámara vs Cabellera, organized by the production company Lemon Films at the 13th GIFF. He won the Mayahuel Audience Award at the 22nd Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) for his first feature Club eutanasia (2005).
