Jesús Torres Torres

He studied communication at the Center for Communication Studies (CECC, in Spanish) in Mexico City. He won, among other scholarships and grants, the Young Creators Grant of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) in 2000, and received the support of the 10th National Competition for Short Film Projects launched by the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) in 2010. He was the winner of the 6th Alejandro Galindo Screenwriting Improvement Workshop and was part of the Projects in Development Nuevas Miradas at the 34th International Festival of New Latin American Film in Havana, Cuba. He has participated with his work in two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). At the 6th FICM, he competed with his short fiction film En la luz del sol brillante (2008), that was also presented at the 20th International Short Film Festival, Brazil; at the 13th Out Takes: A Reel Queer Film Festival, New Zealand; and the 24th Torino Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (TGLFF), Italy, among others. At the 9th FICM, he participated with his short fiction film Vendaval (2011) that was also presented at the 54th Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Films, Spain, and the 16th Film Festival of Lima, Peru.
